Make a pledge to make your
next new vehicle zero emission.

Campaign update: Zero Emission Pledge is now under ZEV Pledge.com

We have all seen the reports or have heard the warnings. Whether the danger is from the effects of environmental pollution, climate change, or from the depletion of Earth's natural resources, it has become abundantly clear that we MUST decrease our dependency on oil. This must be done quickly in order to curb the negative consequences that are already showing up from our increased carbon emissions into the atmosphere. > continue intro

What is the Zero Emission Pledge? It's a consumer advocacy campaign to pressure the auto industry to roll out zero emission vehicles now--not 5, 10, 20 years in the future.

What do I have to do? This may be the easiest pledge you'll ever make. Simply don't purchase any more new cars that use gas. And if you need to get a car? Buy a used one.

So where can I buy a zero emission vehicle? Several forward thinking companies are now introducing electric cars and trucks. Yet for general consumer purchasing, there are no 'mainstream' ZEVs available. The auto industry remains entrenched in oil. It's time to put you money where it matters--and stop supporting the auto industry's dirty habit.

Why are we still using oil?
(A: see Exxon)

Zero emission technology, such as this Honda fuel-cell car, have been available--and working--for over 6 8 years. Buying any new gas consuming vehicle--including current 'hybrids'--will accomplish nothing but more continued oil consumption for decades to come. So what's the solution?

It's easy. Stop buying new oil-based cars. And if you need to purchase a vehicle? Buy a used one instead.
